ACTIVITIES
The school nurtures the student in many ways and helps them identify and bring out their talents and specialities. These thought through activities are held in order to bring out the best in every student.
House System
The students are grouped into four houses. This cultivates a sense of belonging and builds an attitude for team work. The students will be assigned to be a part of the houses from class I onwards.
Uniformed Services
Students can be a part of the organized uniformed services like Scouts, Guides and Interact – the student program from Rotary International that is introduced in the school in order to inculcate a sense of discipline. This cultivates a secular outlook and a spirit of helping others. Adventure activities like hiking, trekking are also organized for the students through private organizers.
Co-Curricular Activities
The students get to improve on their curricular and academic skills with the help of co-curricular activities. Recitation, Story Telling, Essay-Writing, Declamation, Public Speaking, Creative Writing, General Knowledge, Quiz, etc., will be held in the school, giving the students a chance to explore their other skills. Eminent speakers with expertise in various backgrounds will give talks for the benefit of the students and teachers. Class and Group projects are also given importance as it is through this that the students develop their imagination and teambuilding skills.
Extra-curricular Activities
For the all-round development of children, the students are encouraged to take part in various activities that are held in the school. Ranging from sports to music to dance, the students are given the platform to identify and develop their interests. The students have consistently won many inter school competitions and brought laurels to the school.
Art, Craft and Handicraft
The school also gives importance to arts and crafts as much as it does to the other co and extra-curricular activities. The school encourages Fine arts through drawing, sketching, painting, sculpture; crafts and handicrafts through clay work, wood work, metal work, toys, flower-making, decorations, candles, Batik, needle work, screen painting etc.
Music, Dance and Drama
Music, dance and drama are also taught in the school. In music, vocal classical and western are taught. The students can be a part of the instrumental band and also learn classical dance. Drama that includes skits and plays are also organized.
Festivals and Functions
We at RCIS understand the importance of the various national and regional festivals. The school tries to be a part of these celebrations by celebrating these festivities in the School. This not only stresses on the importance of these days but also fosters the spirit in appreciating cultural diversity and national ethos. Independence day, Republic day, Teacher’s day and Children’s day calls for special celebrations. The students and teachers celebrate these festivities with gusto. The Grand Annual day celebrations are something that the students, parents and the school management look forward to.
Sports
Sports and physical education are given equal importance in RCIS. Emphasis is given on physical education and physical fitness. Physical activity develops motor skills and builds social skills. It improves the confidence and self-esteem in children and promotes team spirit. Sports and physical education covers a whole range of games, outdoor activities, yoga and aerobics.
Tours, Field trips and Excursions
Educational tours and trips, adventure tours, treks, hiking etc., are arranged for students by the school. Field trips help students not only to view and understand the concepts better when they are provided with a ‘hands on experience.’ Field trips are carefully planned, reviewed and monitored by our staff to ensure the safety of the children.
